Grease Gutters: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Our experience in the past has been that roof top containment products are usually neglected. How is your system different?
A: Simplicity! Our system uses a self contained (one piece) filter, not multiple pads. A filter change out is usually done in a short period of time with no mess.

Q: How does weather affect the performance of the Grease Gutter System?
A: It doesn't. The Grease Gutter System performs just as well at 110 degrees as it would in a rain storm or at 40 degrees below zero.
Q: I would like to save the expense of having a contractor install your product, is it really that easy that I could do it myself?
A: No Problem! Again, simplicity was our goal when we designed our product. A typical Grease Gutter System can be installed in under a one hour with just a few simple tools.
Q: Our exhaust fan has an odd size base. Do we need a "special model" to adapt to our fan?
A: No. The Grease Gutter System was designed as a one size fits all. With simple trimming of the main lengths, our system will work flawlessly on any fan type. In fact, if you call with your duct dimensions, we will even prep it for you before we ship it.
Q: I don't have the time or staff to service a roof top grease protection product.
A: We have a number of service providers that can install and service the Grease Gutter for you.
Q: Our rooftop service providers are not always on time with maintenance issues. What if my Grease Gutter System is accidentally not maintained on schedule?
A: We will only guarantee a grease free roof if the filter is changed soon after your exhaust cleaning company cleans your system. However, our specially designed filter is treated with a enzyme neutralizer as an added measure of protection so that it if it is ever over capacity and does leak, the destructive acidic properties of the grease will be reduced.
Q: The Grease Gutter System is made of plastic. How will it survive the abuse of my service people?
A: The Grease Gutter System is molded with V-O Polypropylene, which is the highest quality, most durable and fire resistant polymer material available.
Q: The Grease Gutter System is quite slim and does not sit on the roof. How will this catch any over spray of grease from my fans?
A: Grease does not "spray" from your fan. Grease is heavier than air and oozes from gaps and crevices of your fan as it is separated from your fan. The Grease Gutter System  addresses the problem at the source, the fan base.
Q: My fan has a grease discharge spout only on one side, why do I need full perimeter grease protection around my fans?
A: As fans are cleaned and serviced, the gaskets and contact surfaces between the fan and the roof curbing wear, which creates gaps and leaks with time. Complete perimeter protection is the only way to guarantee grease will not get on your roof.
Q: If I ever have to replace my exhaust fan, do I need to buy a new Grease Gutter System ?
A: No. The Grease Gutter System mounts to the ducting curbing, not the fan; complete removal of the fan can be done without disrupting its function.
